I ALSO promise to be true to you in good times and in bad, in sickness and in health. I will love you and honor you all the days of my life.

If vows are about love which are easy, the harder ones are about the responsibility it takes to love.

The vows in the US now read:
to be my lawfully wedded (husband/wife), to have and to hold, from this day forward, for better, for worse, for richer, for poorer, in sickness and in health, until death do us part.

They used to say: "to have and to hold from this day forward, for better for worse, for richer for poorer, in sickness and in health, to love, cherish, and to obey, till death us do part, according to God's holy ordinance; and thereto I give thee my troth.

So the responsibilities have lessoned and filters through.

promise to be true to you in good times and in bad, in
sickness and in health. I will love you and honor you all the
days of my life.
